According to the India’s Gem & Jewellery (GJ) export & import fact-n-figure for the period April 2023 – January 2024; the overall gross exports of Gems & Jewellery at US$ 26353.72 million (Rs. 218307.43 crores) is showing a decline of 16.03% (-12.78% in Rs term) as compared to US$ 31385.84 million (Rs. 250282.62 crores) for the same period previous year or say Year over Year (YoY).
The overall gross imports of Gems & Jewellery at US$ 17849.61 million (Rs. 147767.57 crores) is showing a decline of 16.92% (-13.8% in Rs. term) as compared to US$ 21485.66 million (Rs. 171415.2 crores) for the same period previous year.
At the Rough Diamonds front, gross imports of rough diamonds at US$ 11269.61 million (Rs 93174.50 crores) in April 2023 – January 2024 have shown a decline of 19.66% (-16.68% Rs. term) compared with the imports at US$ 14027.10 million (Rs. 111832.55 crores) for previous year.
In volume terms gross Import of rough diamonds at 985.39 lakhs carats during April 2023 – January 2024 has shown a decline of 7.46% compared with the imports at 1064.82 lakhs carats during previous year.
Provisional gross export of Polished Lab Grown Diamonds for the period April 2023 – January 2024 at US$ 1138.84 million (in Rs. 9428.04 crores) shows a decline of 20.55% (-17.54% in Rs. term) over the comparative figure of US$ 1433.48 million (Rs. 11433.12 crores) for previous year.
