IJS hosted jewelery professionals from 139 countries

55th IJS (Istanbul Jewelry Show) organized by Informa Markets and sponsored by Elmas Kule, gathered the jewelry world at Istanbul Expo Center on 17-20 April 2024 under one roof.

IJS where more than 1,500 brands from 16 countries including Türkiye exhibited, hosted more than 30,000 visitors from 139 countries in an area of 70 thousand square meters. In the IJS Tech section of the fair, where the latest products, designs and collections, especially gold jewelry, jewellery, mountings, diamonds, precious stones and silver, were showcased, the machinery, equipment and technologies that give life to jewelry were exhibited together.

Compared to the show held in March 2023, IJS April 2024 saw an 8% increase in the number of international visitors. Again, compared to the March 2023 show, the April 2024 show had an increase of 180% in the number of visitors from Far Asian countries, 68% from Northern European countries, 64% from Central Asian countries, 63% from Southeast Asian countries, 47% from Pacific countries, 32% from North Asian countries and 30% from Southern European countries.

The “International Buyer Delegation Program” was organized by the Jewelery Exporters Association and Informa Markets in order to increase exports, discover new markets for export products and ensure that sellers maintain their current market share. Within the scope of the program, more than 1300 representatives of the important brands of the sector were hosted as buyers at the fair.

IJS Founding Partner Şermin Cengiz; “The heart of the jewelry industry beats here”

IJS Founding Partner Şermin Cengiz said, “The Turkish Jewelry Industry meets a significant proportion of its annual exports, such as 80 percent, from IJS fairs” and added, “We always strive to gather more visitors with our exhibiting brands at every show. IJS, which we opened for the first time in April this year, was followed by more than 30,000 industry professionals for four days, from Wednesday to Saturday. 41% of visitors came from abroad. Therefore, IJS strongly continues its mission of contributing directly to the exports of the sector. “The heart of the jewelry industry beats at IJS fairs,” she said.

On 17th April the first day of the show, the new name and logo of the show were introduced at the launch event moderated by historian Pelin Batu.

At the launch, IJS Founding Partner Şermin Cengiz said that they were inspired by the journey of jewelry from the zero point of history to today and from there to the future; “As IJS, we continue to transform, grow and illuminate our sector with a shining light, with the awareness of our power and our heritage,” she said. Stating that the show will continue to shed light on the jewelry industry with the IJS brand and the modern tulip figure, the symbol of Istanbul, Cengiz emphasized that this transformation is not only a turning point but also a beginning.

Exhibitors and visitors followed with interest the IJS events that inspired the industry

IJS (Istanbul Jewelry Show), which is among the five largest jewelery fairs in the world and Türkiye’s first and only international specialized B2B meeting in this field, continues to host important events that shape the future of jewelery today and inspire the sector, beyond being just a trade platform. The “Art for Jewelery: Inspiration Hub” event, which is an important step of the cultural and artistic movement initiated in the jewelery sector and organized with the support of the Jewellery Exporters’ Association and IJS, made valuable contributions to art and artists in the field of jewelry. At the Designer Club event, which is also a joint project of the Jewelery Exporters Association and IJS, local and international jewelry designers and jewelry masters had the opportunity to introduce their products to the world by exhibiting the collections they produced at a special stand in the area reserved for them at the fair.

Sustainability and artificial intelligence will guide the future of jewelery WGSN, which determines the future trends of the sector, was hosted by IJS this year as well. ‘’Autumn & Winter 24/25 Trends in Jewelry’’ presentation prepared specifically for the fair by WGSN, which predicts that the elements of “Sustainability” and “Artificial Intelligence” will shape the future of jewelry, discovered the design details, fascinating materials and colors that will inspire them. In the “Jewelry Women and Sustainability” panel, the further increase in the number of female entrepreneurs and female jewelery industry representatives in the industry and what can be done for a sustainable future were discussed.
