Accompanied by GIA report no. 5221971812, dated 14 June 2023, stating that the diamond is Fancy Vivid Blue, Natural Colour, VS2 Clarity; also accompanied by a diamond type classification report stating that the diamond is determined to be a Type IIb diamond.

Further accompanied by a separate monograph expressing the rarity and the characteristics of the stone, as well as a letter stating that ‘…To say the Infinite Blue is special cannot be overstated. The odds of finding a blue diamond is of the topmost rarity

Sotheby’s closed auction on October 5, with the Estimate to raise between 208,000,000 – 288,000,000 HKD while the lot realised 198,220,000 HKD. Sotheby’s presented the Infinite Blue, an 11.28-carat Fancy Vivid Blue diamond. The Infinite Blue has a captivating hue that alludes to the vastness of the ocean. Originating from the legendary Cullinan mine, the discovery of the rough for the Infinite Blue was a momentous occasion.

Only 0.1% of the total mining production can produce blue diamonds, irrespective of the strength of color. The Blue Moon of Josephine, weighing 12 carats and found in the same mine, set an auction per-carat price record of US$ 4 million in 2015 with Sotheby’s, a record that holds to this day.
