A roadshow ahead of the 68th Bangkok Gems

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), and the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT) conducted a Roadshow” for the 68th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair to be held from 6-10 September 2023 in Bangkok. The event was followed with an exclusive fashion show with models displaying an array of Thailand’s jewellery to the visitors.

The fair’s timing in September aligns seamlessly with the festive season. Supported by the Thai government, international exhibitors, buyers & importers can enjoy special privileges including complimentary accommodation, transportation, VIP lounge access, and discounts at renowned department stores in Thailand. India has been a Key market for Thailand’s gems and jewellery exports, especially the silver jewellery.

Also India has been the top visiting country for the Bangkok Gems for many years, both in terms of footfalls and trade volumes. The fair is a very important trade platform especially for Indian exhibitors. For an Indian buyer or importer, the fair acts as a ready-made platform to access the latest range of designs of gems and jewellery uniquely created by Thailand.

Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair is the biggest gems and jewellery trade show in Asia and ranks world’s top five major gem and jewelry trade fairs. DITP and GIT have been continuously playing an essential role in promoting Thailand’s gems and jewellery industry globally. The 68th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, which will be held at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok, Thailand will display more than 1,100 exhibitors in 2,400 booths.

More than 15,000 visitors & 3,000 million baht of revenue is expected from this edition. Established players & entrepreneurs from all over the globe will be able to network with manufacturers, buyers, importers, distributors & exporters from Thailand & worldwide across all ranges of gems, jewellery, gemstones, gold, silver to packaging, equipment, tools & machinery.

Sitthichai Parinyanusorn, Deputy Director (Business), GIT, highlighted Thailand as having a long and rich history of gems and jewellery craftsmanship. The country is home to the world’s most precious gemstones, including rubies, sapphires, and emeralds. Thai jewellers are known for their exquisite craftsmanship.

In 2022, the Thai gem and jewelry industry generated over 15 billion USD in revenue and an increase of 49.82% from the same period of 2021. And the industry is expected to grow by 5% in 2023.

Saithong Soiphet, Director of Thai Trade Center, New Delhi, emphasized that India stands as a pivotal market for Thailand’s gem and jewelry exports, particularly valued at over 1,000 million USD (excluding gold). The Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair offers a comprehensive marketplace under one roof, with unmatched networking and professional engagement opportunities.

For Thailand, India holds a particularly special place, both for tourism & trade & both before and after the pandemic. India has largely contributed to Thailand’s exports in gems and Jewellery products.
