The Industry, Trade and Investment Facilitation (Friendship) Ordinance-2023 has been issued. The ordinance has been issued under the signature of Governor Ramesh Bais. In order to facilitate investment in the state, Maharashtra Chamber of Industry, Trade and Investment Facilitation (Maitri) was set up in 2014 to redress the grievances of investors.
By ensuring effective linkages between the Central Government’s National Single Window System (NSWS) and the State Portals, the Friendship- will help in the success of the efforts of the Central Government and State Governments in this regard.
A similar Bill was introduced in the Maharashtra Assembly as Assembly Bill No. 4 of 2023 to enact legislation for the purpose of creating an effective single window system. It was passed on 3 March 2023 and subsequently transferred to the Maharashtra Legislative Council. It was withdrawn from the Legislative Council on 13 March 2023. Accordingly, necessary changes were made.
Maitri shall be the nodal agency for the single window system in the State of Maharashtra, providing for electronic application through the single window system for any permit required under the relevant laws, supervising the functioning of Maitri, deciding the applications pending within the specified time limit by the competent authority and Provision for constitution of an Empowered Committee consisting of the Development Commissioner (Industries) as Chairman, for adjudication, redressal of grievances of applicants, etc.
