Some of IGI’s newest graduates were honored with a diploma ceremony in the evocative, historically significant lecture hall of Sapienza University in Rome. Timed to follow a major international gemological conference at the same site, the ceremony united over 30 IGI students and instructors from various parts of Italy.
The event provided the opportunity for the new graduates, IGI instructors and IGI Alumni Italy members to meet each other, network, exchange views and discuss the current state of gemology, new developments and challenges that lie ahead.
Over the past 10 years IGI’s five schools in Italy have issued more than 3,000 diplomas. The IGI Alumni Italy membership includes gem professionals and enthusiasts who regularly attend gemological conferences in Italy and abroad, maintaining connection with each other and their IGI instructors.
Ceremonial Tradition: The event at Sapienza University continues a tradition of honoring new IGI graduates at gemological gatherings. Previous ceremonies held in Rome, Naples, and Marcianise, have been attended by IGI leadership, including Roland Lorie, Deborah Pienica and Luigi Costantini, among others.
