Genderfluid, versatile and light jewellery, bold and contrasting colours that recall the pop geometries of the ‘80s, materials in their raw state, jewellery that tells the story of the wearer’s personality. Vicenzaoro September (VOS), the Italian Exhibition Group – IEG international trade show, is opening its doors at Vicenza Expo Centre from today, 8th September, until Tuesday 12th September, in conjunction with VO’Clock Privé (8th – 10th September, in the foyer on the first floor), the contemporary watchmaking event open to the public of enthusiasts. A moment of inspiration for the international jewellery community, Vicenzaoro unveils new collections and the latest market trends to buyers, operators, media, opinion leaders and trendsetters.
STORYTELLING, GENDER FLUIDITY, SLOW DESIGN: JEWELLERY REFLECTS THE PRESENT
New market entries at Vicenzaoro reflect the historical and social changes of our time. Numerous proposals of extremely light, genderfluid jewellery that can be worn 24 hours a day: rings designed for two (FOPE) made of flexible gold links that extend and mould to the fingers with pink or blue sapphires, rubies, emeralds, black or white diamonds, as well as wedding rings with a decisive unisex design, crossed by a thin black line (Marco Dal Maso). Jewellery becomes a way of expressing one’s personality through symbols, emoji and letters: collections that make words shine around the neck or on the wrists, set in white or pink gold and diamonds (Crivelli), rings (Stephen Webster) or earrings (LA BRUNE & LA BLONDE) inspired by comic strips, taking up their graphic lines, symbols and colours. Contrasts explode with bold and energetic colours and optical and edgy patterns in imaginative creations (Marina B) and with bold geometric shapes (Vendorafa). Another trend is to use raw materials in their natural state in order to bring out slow design and high-level craftsmanship with pieces that enhance the raw shapes of stones and bring out their original beauty (Carola Gioielli).
VICENZAORO, THE TREND SHOW, BETWEEN HIGH TECHNOLOGY AND SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability and technology intersect in international haute joaillerie proposals, expressed at Vicenzaoro in precious, ultra-light pieces that pay attention to the recycling and reuse of raw materials and high performance. They mix alternative materials with diamonds and super-precious stones, creating unexpected contrasts. Titanium, for example, (Roberto Coin) is worked with high-precision machines giving shape to oxidised jewellery created according to a process that stabilises the colours into various ultra-bright shades. And voluminous and sculptural pieces (Peruffo) whose weight is reduced using an ultra-light stone-setting system made with 18 and 9 carat gold cages. Technology then merges with the revival of ancient traditions and techniques, in coral and cameo jewellery for example, which, thanks to artificial intelligence, become unique pieces customised to the customer’s needs (Aucella).
