The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) has officially revealed the nominees for the coveted position of Chairperson after an extensive search. The Board, during its meeting in London on February 1, unanimously approved Edward Asscher from Royal Asscher and Dave Meleski from Richline to stand for election.

The voting process is set to begin on February 5th and will continue until February 29th. The eagerly anticipated announcement of the new RJC Chair is scheduled to take place at the General Meeting on March 4, 2024.

Expressing gratitude to the Board of Directors for their dedicated efforts, the outgoing Chair, who has served for nearly six years, also extended congratulations to the nominees. Both Asscher and Meleski bring extensive industry knowledge and experience, promising strong leadership for the RJC.

Additionally, the outgoing Chair acknowledged the upcoming 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM), set to unfold in two phases. The initial phase, covering nominations and voting for the Chair, will be followed by the second phase from April to June. During this period, members will participate in nominations and voting for Member Forum representatives, along with the presentation of the Director’s Report and Annual Financial Statement.

Members will receive their log-in details from LUMI, the independent election provider, starting early January. These details will grant access to various activities, including nominating, voting, and attending the AGM. The outgoing Chair expressed confidence in the RJC’s future leadership under Melanie Grant, the esteemed Executive Director, who boasts over 20 years of international expertise in the jewelry industry.
