Oroarezzo 2023 opens tomorrow, Saturday 13th: the Italian Exhibition Group event that hosts and promotes the very best of Made in Italy gold and jewelry production will be ongoing at Arezzo Fiere e Congressi until Tuesday 16th May. The show is back with its 42nd edition on stage in Arezzo, the province that exported the most precious goods in 2022 for a value of 3.2 billion euro, equal to 31% of the national total, and home to a gold district that, again in 2022, recorded a 19% increase in exports compared to 2021 (processing by Confindustria Moda’s Study Centre on ISTAT data for Federorafi).

THE OPENING CEREMONY

The opening ceremony, scheduled for 11.30 am, will be introduced by Nicola Saldutti, Corriere della Sera economics editor-in-chief, and attended by Lorenzo Cagnoni, President of Italian Exhibition Group, Ferrer Vannetti, President of Arezzo Fiere e Congressi, Alessandro Ghinelli, Mayor of Arezzo, Alessandro Polcrì, President of the Province of Arezzo, Massimo Guasconi, President of the Arezzo-Siena Chamber of Commerce, Giordana Giordini, President of Consulta Orafa and Confindustria Orafi di Arezzo, representing the sector’s trade associations, Roberto Luongo, General Director of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), the Hon. Tiziana Nisini, Vice President of the 11th Parliamentary Commission for Public and Private Employment, and Beppe Angiolini, Oroarezzo ambassador and art director. Eugenio Giani, President of the Tuscany Region has also been invited.

EVENT AND NETWORKING

From manufacture to design, from technologies to sustainability and training for the sector’s current and future operators, Oroarezzo is the reference platform and meeting point for the production world. More than 350 exhibiting brands and over 400 hosted buyers from 55 countries, thanks to collaboration with ITA– the agency for the promotion abroad and internationalization of Italian companies, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Oroarezzo will also showcase the creations competing in the 32nd edition of Première, this year dedicated to the theme of light and, for the first time, open to goldsmith school students with the new Talents category.

SECTOR DATA

Following increases of over 30% in value in the first two quarters of 2022, Italian gold and jewelry exports recorded +14.6% in the third quarter and +5.4% in the fourth. The cumulative figure for the 12 months showed an increase of 20.5% in value compared to January-December 2021, standing at €9.8 billion, of which 75% to non-EU markets, while growth was 40.8% compared to the €6.96 billion exported in 2019. The average increase in industry turnover was +20.8% up on 2021. In terms of industrial production, in 2022 the sector also confirmed that operability was holding up well, with a growth of 13.6% compared to January- December 2021 (processing by Confindustria Moda’s Study Centre on ISTAT data for Federorafi). A sector that is also growing on the employment front: according to Infocamere data, 2022 saw a +5.4% growth in the number of employees (+1,650 units).

THE EUROPEAN FEDERATION OF JEWELLERY IN AREZZO

A place for business and a technical platform for the production world, Oroarezzo gathers together the sector’s key national and international voices. A prelude to the start of the event was the EFJ – European Federation of Jewelry work group, the European Federation of national associations in the precious jewelry sector, organized by Confindustria Federorafi and held today, Friday 12th May, at Arezzo Fiere e Congressi. The meeting was attended by representatives from several European associations: Confindustria Federorafi– the Italian Goldsmith, Silversmith and Jeweler’s Federation – was joined by UFBJOP – Union Française de la Bijouterie, Joaillerie, Orfèvrerie, des Pierres et des Perles, AORP – Associaçao de Ourivesaria e Relojoaria de Portugal, ARS NOBILIS – Belgische Federatie voor Juwelen & Uurwerken – Fédération belge du Bijou et de la Montre, AWDC – Antwerp World Diamond Centre, AEJPR – Asociación Española de Joyeros, Plateros y Relojeros, Assamblage – Romanian National Association of Contemporary Jewelry Authors and Designers.
