The London Diamond Bourse (LDB) proudly organised the launch of its inaugural Mentor Programme at the GIA Careers fair, a pioneering initiative designed to provide support to students and newcomers in the diamond and jewellery industry. This mentorship programme aims to facilitate and support a seamless transition for aspiring professionals as they embark on their chosen career paths within the industry.
The London Diamond Bourse Mentor Programme is the first of its kind, revolutionizing the way newcomers are nurtured in the diamond and jewellery trade. Recognizing the immense potential and value of mentorship, the LDB has created a comprehensive membership programme that combines expert guidance, tailored education, networking opportunities, and career support for programme members.
One of the key features of the Mentor Programme is the provision of a designated expert mentor to each participant. These mentors, who possess extensive industry experience and a deep understanding of its intricacies, will engage in monthly one-on-one meetings with their mentees. These meetings can be conducted either in person or virtually, allowing for flexibility and convenience.
Charlotte Rose, who is leading this new initiative and part of the Council of Management at the London Diamond Bourse, shared,
“Our Mentor Programme aims to empower and uplift the next generation of talent in the diamond and jewellery industry. We’re looking to foster their personal and professional growth, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their chosen careers. By bridging the gap between education and employment, the programme ensures that mentees are well-equipped to embark on a successful career trajectory.”
In addition to the mentorship component, the London Diamond Bourse Mentor Programme offers a range of educational resources designed to expand the participants’ understanding of the diamond and jewellery trade.
These resources will be made available through curated workshops and seminars delivered by industry experts alongside the London Diamond Bourse’s recently accredited, Diamond Practical Knowledge course. By equipping mentees with up-to-date knowledge and insights, the programme aims to enhance their overall competence and marketability.
Programme members will have exclusive access to a series of networking events where they can connect with established professionals, build valuable relationships, and expand their industry network. This exposure to key players in the diamond and jewellery sector will open doors to exciting opportunities and pave the way for their future success.
Alan Cohen, London Diamond Bourse President, said, “Mentor-based training programmes are essential for knowledge transfer, skill development, personalised guidance, networking and career advancement. They foster a culture of learning, collaboration and professional growth. We are delighted to be able to provide support in this manner to the next generation of industry professionals.”
The Mentor Programme is open to students and newcomers in the diamond and jewellery industry who possess a genuine passion and dedication to excel in their chosen fields. Membership is available on an annual basis, at £300 per year, or on a monthly basis for £30 Inc VAT per month.
