According to the Burgundy Diamond Mines, recapped the remarkable transformations witnessed in 2023 and provided insights into the company’s promising future. The year marked a pivotal moment for Burgundy, propelling it from a modest exploration company to the world’s foremost publicly listed end-to-end Diamond Company, claiming the title of the largest diamond producer in Canada and among the Group of Seven (G7) nations.

A key highlight of 2023 was the successful acquisition and integration of the Arctic Canadian Diamond Company, solidifying Burgundy’s global presence. Operations were optimized across business units, with a focus on the Ekati Diamond Mine in Canada’s Northwest Territories and sales activities in Antwerp, Belgium. The company’s manufacturing facilities in Perth, Australia contributed to the production of exquisite polished fancy-colored diamonds, ensuring ethical and sustainable sourcing.

The CEO expressed gratitude to the dedicated Burgundy team for seamlessly uniting under a single global brand, emphasizing the commitment, professionalism, and endurance displayed during a period of significant change and growth. The company remains committed to enhancing safety measures while exploring opportunities to extend the life of the Ekati operation and pursue additional avenues for growth.

A notable achievement was celebrated as Burgundy marked 25 years of production, surpassing 95 million carats produced at the Ekati mine. The CEO highlighted the asset’s quality and its status as one of the world’s largest undeveloped diamond resources. Mining production was stabilized, meeting monthly targets and achieving the highest tonnage processed since 2013.

Looking ahead, Burgundy unveiled an ambitious life-of-mine plan for Ekati, projecting operations until 2040. The plan includes extending Misery underground, transitioning Sable to an underground mine, developing Fox as an underground mine, processing a low-grade stockpile at Fox, optimizing the Point Lake project, and potentially implementing an underwater remote mining project pending successful trials.
