Christie’s Magnificent Jewels Spring Auction totalled HK$467,107,780 / US$60 million and was 84% sold by lot. There was spirited bidding from 19 countries across 3 continents, propelling half of the lots above their pre-sale high estimates. These solid results underscore Christie’s expertise in catering to the discerning tastes of collectors, particularly for rare coloured diamonds.
Three internally flawless pear-shaped coloured diamond rings captivated the audience, igniting fervent bidding that persisted for over 15 minutes.
Vickie Sek, Chairman, Jewellery, Christie’s Asia Pacific, commented, “Our Magnificent Jewels sale received an excellent response from collectors for the diverse selection of exquisite colourless and coloured diamonds and gemstones presented, with almost half of these lots selling above their high estimates.
A trio of spellbinding coloured diamonds all incited enthusiastic bidding. Magnificent creations from prestigious houses including Bulgari, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels garnered outstanding results. Hong Kong continues to be the thriving luxury collection hub.
We look forward now to luxury week at Christie’s New York featuring the Magnificent Jewels of Anne Eisenhower on 7 June.”
