Rio Tinto has unveiled its final Beyond Rare™ Tender, titled Into the Light, showcasing 52 diamond lots sourced from its Argyle mine in Australia and Diavik mine in Canada.
The tender, the third in Rio Tinto’s annual Art Series, features 45.44 carats of rare pink, red, violet, yellow, and white diamonds. Highlights include six ‘Masterpieces’ sets, 39 single stones, and seven curated sets. Among them are one GIA Fancy Red, 12 Fancy Violet, 76 Fancy Pink variants, two D-colour Flawless white diamonds, and a 6.12-carat Fancy Vivid Yellow.
With Argyle ceasing operations in 2020 and Diavik set to close in 2026, the collection marks the end of an era. Patrick Coppens, General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Rio Tinto’s Diamonds business, said: “It is hard to overstate the importance of this final collection from two extraordinarily beautiful places on earth – the East Kimberley region of Western Australia and the Northwest Territories of Canada.
“No other mining company in the world has custody of such an exquisite collection of diamond colours, shapes and sizes and we all pay tribute to the men and women who have worked so hard over many years to bring them to market.”
The 52 lots will be showcased in Hong Kong, Australia, and Antwerp, with bidding open until 20 October 2025.
