Mr. Paul Rowley, Executive Vice President – Diamond Trading, De Beers, visited GJEPC’s head office at the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) in Mumbai.
Present at the meeting were GJEPC Chairman Mr. Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman Mr. Shaunak Parikh, Diamond Panel Convener Mr. Ajesh Mehta, Advisor to Chairman Mr. Ashish Mehta, and Executive Director Mr. Sabyasachi Ray.
The discussions centred on the current global diamond market dynamics, including the impact of tariffs, and the need to explore new opportunities in emerging markets.
Mr. Rowley acknowledged the resilience of the Indian diamond industry in navigating recent challenges and reiterated De Beers’ commitment to supporting the trade through marketing initiatives and collaborative efforts.
Both sides exchanged views on shifting consumer trends, the importance of restoring confidence in natural diamonds, and the potential of fast-growing markets in the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia.
