The Natural Diamond Council hosted an elegant evening spotlighting Botswana’s remarkable diamond journey with a special “House of Botswana” event at the Natural Diamond Club, held at Yardbird Table & Bar at the Venetian during the JCK Las Vegas show.
The highlight of the evening was a keynote address by His Excellency President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko, who reflected on Botswana’s five-decade legacy of natural diamonds. “Botswana diamonds have funded schools, infrastructure, and opportunity for generations of Batswana,” he stated. “We want the world to see our diamonds and think: ‘This is a natural diamond. This is a Botswana diamond. This is a diamond with purpose.’”
Following the keynote, a fireside chat moderated by Paige Reddinger, Watch and Jewellery Editor at Robb Report, offered deeper insights into Botswana’s role in the global luxury landscape.
A lively panel discussion followed, led by Botswana’s Minister of Minerals & Energy, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo. Emphasising the unique position of natural diamonds, she noted, “We are pedestaling natural diamonds. There is no competition with synthetics. We have different places in the industry and ours is at the top of luxury.” She also highlighted the importance of consumer confidence in driving transparency and inclusivity across the industry.
