NAJ presented Style Edit 2025, current trends!

Feb 15, 2025

yuguhjikRecently, National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) presented Style Edit 2025! Inspiration for jewellery design can emanate from any direction. It’s often the fashion runways in London, Milan, New York and Paris… but it can also be found on the street. The home-grown talent found annually at Goldsmiths’ Fair is always stimulating, as is an array of stunning gemstones, an art exhibition or travel.

NAJ said, “There’s a plethora of current trends that show no sign of waning (big cuffs, cosmos-inspo, layering, mixing and matching, ear and hand curation, vintage influences…) but Belinda Morris selects a few other directions that are taking us well into 2025.”

1: Yellow Gold Finishes: While silver jewellery may be angling for a comeback, yellow gold is fighting its corner with an emphasis on new, textural finishes.

2: Global Craft: Call it craftcore if you like, but look out for a growing interest in jewellery-making techniques from a variety of cultures, among them: Spanish filigree, Japanese mokumé gane and such heritage crafts as jadau, gathan and kundan from India.

3: Pearl Variations: Pearls of every description remain as strong as ever, but are particularly attention seeking when used in new and surprising ways.

4: New And Mixed Materials: Mixing white and yellow metals aside (still a thing), expect to see a growing number of alternative materials, including ceramics, resin, titanium, aluminium and even discarded e-waste, used alongside precious materials.

5: Brights: A trend that speaks for itself. Hot colours used for an entire statement piece, or as accents.

6: Age or Gender Fluidity: Anyone can wear anything of course, but some pieces naturally have inclusivity built in – chains, we’re talking about you. And black pearl necklaces, angular/geometric/sculptural pendants, black rhodium plating…

7: Linear and Simple: In sharp contrast to opulent glamour are simple, linear and minimal pieces that nevertheless make a strong statement… but they make it quietly.

8: Let The Gem Do the Talking: The fancy cut might be encroaching on the round brilliant’s territory for diamond rings, but coloured gemstones are also making some noise – particularly if the stone and/or its cut makes a statement. Dare to be different! 9: Boho… With An Earthy Twist: Hammered metals, beads, yarn, ribbons, shells, spiders… give this theme an earthy, natural feel, with sized-up pieces adding a touch of extravagance.
