India imports few rough diamonds in February

LucapaAmid global weaknesses and uncertainties and additionally lower demand for polished diamonds, India imports fewer rough diamonds. Gross Imports of rough diamonds at US$ 9503.60 million (Rs 80090.86 crores) in April 2024 – February 2025 have shown a decline of 26.18% (-24.78% Rs. term) compared with the imports at US$ 12873.51 million (Rs. 106477.38 crores) for previous year.

In volume terms gross Import of rough diamonds at 906.04 lakhs carats during April 2024 – February 2025 has shown a decline of 20.490% compared with the imports at 1139.46 lakhs carats during previous year.

At the Polished Lab Grown Diamonds front, provisional gross export of Polished Lab Grown Diamonds for the period February 2025 at US$ 112.05 million (in Rs. 975.22 crores) shows a decline of 19.58% (-15.62% in Rs. term) over the comparative figure of US$ 139.33 million (Rs. 1155.79 crores) for the previous year.

Further, provisional gross export of Polished Lab Grown Diamonds for the period April 2024 – February 2025 at US$ 1135.18 million (in Rs. 9574.75 crores) shows decline of 11.22% (-9.54% in Rs. term) over the comparative figure of US$ 1278.58 million (Rs. 10584.21 crores) for previous year.

Provisional gross export of Coloured Gemstones for the period April 2024 – February 2025 at US$ 417.15 million (in Rs. 3529.24 crores) shows decline of 8.5% (-6.45% in Rs. term) over the comparative figure of US$ 455.89 million (Rs. 3772.52 crores) for previous year.
