Lucapa Diamond Company announce that two Type IIa Lulo diamonds sold for a total of US$3.5 million at a tender hosted by Sodiam E.P in Angola. The 171 carat parcel consisted of two white Type IIa diamonds weighing 93 carats and 78 carats, recovered from the Lulo Alluvial Mine.
The parcel averaged approximately US$20,400 per carat with the 78 carat Type IIa white diamond attracting the highest price per carat.
Lucapa Managing Director and CEO Alex Kidman said, “The first tender result for 2025 has been very encouraging, with strong prices received for both stones. The early indications are that the diamond market is recovering from the lows seen towards the end of 2024 and we are looking forward to a much more promising year.”
The large, high-value diamonds produced from Lulo attracts the highest prices per carat for alluvial diamonds globally. Lucapa also has a 39% interest in the Lulo Kimberlite Exploration Joint-Venture, which is exploring for the potential primary source kimberlites at the prolific Lulo concession in Angola.
