The Opening Ceremony of WorldSkills Lyon 2024 took place this evening, 10 September, at the LDLC Arena, a state-of-the-art facility and Lyon’s largest event venue. The spectacular celebration marked the official start of the 47th WorldSkills Competition, and an energetic start of celebration of the talents of young professionals from around the world.
The Opening Ceremony, which welcomed 12,000 attendees, began with the Parade of Nations, where the 1,400 young Competitors from 70 countries proudly marched with their country’s flag, each representing their home nation in a vibrant display of diversity. The celebration also featured a beautiful mix of entertainment, with performances including a beautiful dance show and a mesmerizing light show powered by artificial intelligence. The atmosphere was electric, as participants and spectators alike were captivated by the celebration of global talent and creativity.
Max Roche, President of the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 Competition Organizer, and Chris Humphries, President and Chair of the WorldSkills Board, both shared words of encouragement and highlighted the spirit of collaboration and excellence that defines the WorldSkills Competition. The Ceremony ended on a high note with French President Emmanuel Macron officially declaring the start of the 47th WorldSkills Competition, showing support to all Competitors and to the entire global WorldSkills community.
The entire event was live-streamed globally, allowing thousands of viewers from all corners of the world to enjoy the moment. The Opening Ceremony not only celebrated the diversity of the Competitors but also set an exciting and inspiring tone for the coming days. Best of luck to all the Competitors!
