Right with January resolutions, Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) is planning to celebrate the 20 years of the RJC. According to the RJC, on May 20th 2005 the RJC was incorporated by 14 founding members: ABN AMRO, BHP Billiton Diamonds, Cartier, World Jewellery Confederation, Diamond Trading Company (part of De Beers Group), Diarough, Jewelers of America, National Association of Goldsmiths (UK), Newmont Mining, Rio Tinto, Rosy Blue, Signet Group, Tiffany & Co., and Zale Corporation.
Since then, we have welcomed members from 74 countries, joined the UN Global Compact, held a Sustainability Summit at Harvard, conducted ground-breaking original ESG research, tattooed and interviewed members at trade shows, introduced and revised numerous standards, and created an SDG taskforce, to name a few.
All of which have contributed to 20 years of meaningful change in our industry and beyond. This year, we look forward to strengthening our partnerships, supporting your efforts, and building on the incredible achievements we’ve accomplished together.
Your dedication to responsible business practices inspires us every day, and we are proud to be part of this movement. To celebrate our emerald milestone, we’re looking to speak to members, stakeholders, designers, and supply chain experts in an upcoming interview series on impacts and to consider where we’d like to be in the next 20 years.
We’re excited to announce two upcoming webinars exclusively for RJC members. The Member Welcome Workshop will take place on Thursday, 6th March (AM session & PM session) and is an interactive session designed to guide you through your membership journey, from joining to achieving certification, and will demonstrate how to use RJC assets to promote your certification.
The workshop will also include an extended Q&A with the team to answer your questions. Additionally, we are hosting a webinar on the updated 2024 COP & COC and related requirements on Thursday, 20th February (AM session & PM session). We will share more details on the structure of this session shortly. Please note, these webinars are for RJC members only, and you do not need to attend both the morning and afternoon sessions, simply select the time that suits you best.
