PGI Statement on Anglo American strategy update

May 16, 2024

pgi banner 410In response to the announcement by Anglo American regarding its intention to explore options to demerge from Anglo American Platinum, one of Platinum Guild International (PGI)’s principal sponsors, PGI remains focused on its strategy to collaborate with partners to create incremental value in and for platinum.

Throughout its history, PGI has always been funded by South African platinum mining producers, of which Anglo American Platinum is a principal one. We expect market development to remain a key focus of the platinum mining industry and jewellery plays a strategic role in it as the category represents a third of global demand.

Tim Schlick, CEO of PGI says, “Our strategy is clear and simple: create ounces and value for our sponsors and partners that otherwise would not exist. This stays front and center and I believe is a highly compelling value proposition to the industry.”

PGI cannot speak for or comment on any Anglo American or Anglo American Platinum related matters or corporate structure and asks to direct inquiries about these to the respective organisations.
