The largest diamond in Russian history, the New Sun, weighing over 100 carats, was unveiled to the people of Yekaterinburg for the first time. This unique gemstone was the star of the Alrosa Diamond Exclusive collection’s investment-grade diamond show, which took place in October 2025 at the Hyatt Regency Yekaterinburg.
This diamond masterpiece is distinguished not only by its record-breaking size but also by its rare Fancy Yellow color. Its creation took over two years and required the participation of a team of 15 of the country’s best diamond cutters.
“Alrosa first unveiled the New Sun diamond in April of this year. Its creation was one of the most significant events in recent years, highlighting Russia’s high status in the global diamond jewelry industry. We are delighted to showcase this unique diamond in the capital of the Urals and tell its story,” said Elena Sukhoveeva, Head of the Alrosa Diamond Exclusive Program.
The collection presented at the shows included more than 20 rare investment-grade diamonds, including yellow diamonds, as well as several luxurious investment sets—pre-made diamond compositions designed as independent investment assets. Each set contains from two to several diamonds, coordinated by color, clarity, shape, and proportions. Due to the precise coordination of their parameters, these sets are valued higher than a combination of individual diamonds with similar characteristics.
“Each set is not a random assortment of diamonds, but a complete composition with investment logic. These sets are created in a single copy and offer a rare combination of high liquidity, structured ownership, and potential for value appreciation,” comments Elena Sukhoveeva.
Show attendees had the opportunity to receive advice and recommendations from professional gemologists and diamond investment consultants. In addition, Alrosa Diamond Exclusive experts organized an investment breakfast, where they discussed the specifics of diamond investing.
