The MidnightOperaHouse x Gemfields, Floral Seasonscape Collection is the first time that Gemfields has partnered with a Chinese jewellery brand.
Introducing the Floral Seasonscape Collection, created by Chinese fine jeweller, MidnightOperaHouse. Featuring Zambian emeralds from our Kagem mine, the covetable collection blends elegant Oriental charm, classical Baroque art influences and modern Art Deco style.
MidnightOperaHouse was founded in Beijing by jewellery designer Johnny Gengyi Yu, who has long drawn on floral inspiration as a creative influence in his work. His brand incorporates both classic and contemporary Chinese design elements, creating a dialogue between Oriental elegance and exotic delicacy.
The pieces in the Floral Seasonscape Collection juxtapose the serene green beauty of Zambian emeralds with natural black agate, inscribing an eternal and romantic sentiment of grace and sophistication. Orchids, narcissus and autumn flowers are all depicted in Gengyi Yu’s beguiling designs, comprising a necklace and two pairs of earrings.
The Ingenious Linglong Narcissus Black Agate Inlaid with Gemfields Zambian Emeralds, Decorated with Mother-of-Pearl and Diamonds, Detachable Pearl Necklace is an homage to Eastern bonsai art. It depicts a bouquet of narcissus, made from delicate diamond and mother-of-pearl in 18k white gold in a Baroque-style vase, which can be detached and worn separately as a brooch.
The Window Harbors Autumn Blooms Black Agate Inlaid with Gemfields Zambian Emeralds, Gold Sand, and Mother-of-Pearl Window Scene Earrings use 16 vivid green round-cut Zambian emeralds on an elliptical silhouette to depict a floral pattern akin to autumn blooms glimpsed through a window.
Meanwhile, the Luxuriant Golden Orchids Black Agate Inlaid with Gemfields Zambian Emeralds Teardrop-shaped Floral Cluster Earrings feature a pear -shaped Zambian emerald as an elongated teardrop adorned with golden threads and round-cut emeralds, to convey the lushness of Oriental foliage. The earrings were inspired by the Ming Dynasty artist, Qiu Ying’s famous painting of an orchid.
