The chairman of the board of directors of Sociedade Mineira do Luele, Rómulo Mucase, reported on Saturday, 30th, in Lunda Sul, that the mine produced four million and four hundred thousand carats of diamonds during its first year of operations.
Rómulo Mucase, who was speaking at the opening of the celebrations for the first anniversary of the mine inaugurated in November 2023 by the President of the Republic João Lourenço, highlighted the capacity of the team that faced several challenges, to administratively structure the company, leverage geological-mining programs, intensify and stabilize production, adapt the qualification of human capital, as well as develop social responsibility and sustainability programs.
He said that supporting communities with sustainable projects will continue to be at the heart of the company’s priorities, having advanced the level of physical execution of 300 social houses for the resettlement of the population living near mining areas, which is above 40 percent.
Currently, he concluded, Sociedade Mineira do Luele has 2,441 workers, representing an increase of 1,058 jobs, compared to the same period last year.
