According to the India’s latest export-import (Exim) data of gem & jewellery (GJ), overall gross export of Cut & Polished diamonds at US$ 1108.74 million (Rs. 9486.88 crores) in month of April 2025 is showing a decline of 6.12% (-3.70% in Rs. Term) as compared to US$ 1180.99 million (Rs. 9851.2 crores) for the same period of previous year.
According to the veteran journalist of GJ industry & trade, by learning the global diamond buying trend, uncertainties, geopolitical scenario and opaque export facilities at the prime export destination of the cut-n-polished diamonds, India suggested overall to pull down the import of cut-n-polished diamonds import in the month of April 2025. Instead of importing diamond of the category, India preferred to pull up the diamond manufacturing in the month of April 2025, the following data say so.
The overall gross Imports of Cut & Polished diamonds at US$ 47.64 million (Rs. 407.51 crores) in month of April 2025 is showing a decline of 45.95% (-44.56% in Rs. term) as compared to US$ 88.13 million (Rs. 735.1 crores) for the same period of previous year.
The overall gross Imports of Cut & Polished diamonds in DTA at US$ 18.49 million (Rs. 158.27 crores) is showing a Growth of -40.68(-39.11% Rs. term) as compared to US$ 31.16(Rs 259.91 crores) for the same period of April 2025
The overall gross Imports of Cut & Polished diamonds in SEZ at US$ 29.15 million (Rs. 249.24 crores) is showing a Decline of -48.83(-47.55% Rs. term) as compared to US$ 56.97(Rs 475.19 crores) for the same period of April 2025.
