On Tuesday, 21st September, the London Diamond Bourse (LDB) had the honour of hosting an exclusive presentation by Rosamond Clayton, a prominent figure in the world of jewellery valuation, to its members, GIA students, and industry professionals. The presentation offered an invaluable introduction to the career path of valuing, providing insights into the route to becoming a qualified valuer through the National Association of Jewellers’ (NAJ) Institute of Registered Valuers (IRV).
Rosamond’s session covered several critical areas, including the NAJ IRV’s Code of Conduct, professional codes of practice, and the essential steps for becoming a Registered Valuer. She emphasised the importance of these standards in ensuring that businesses remain legally compliant and profitable, outlining the requirements for application to the NAJ IRV and the various areas of expertise that valuers must master.
Following the presentation, Rosamond was joined by industry experts Barry Sullivan and Anna Rogers for a panel discussion that provided further insights into their successful careers as Registered Valuers. Together, they offered attendees a deeper understanding of the practical aspects of valuation and the professional journey.
A special thanks was extended to David Brough, Editor of Jewellery Outlook, who expertly moderated the panel and facilitated the first-ever Instagram Live broadcast of the event for the London Diamond Bourse, allowing a broader audience to engage with the discussion.
Stacey Aylott, Chief Operating Officer of the London Diamond Bourse, shared her enthusiasm for the event stating: “As a well-respected member of the London Diamond Bourse, we were thrilled to have Rosamond present and share her extensive experience as a Valuer. It was especially rewarding to hear how our facilities, such as the stone verification equipment and the expertise of our members, are regarded as essential resources for valuers in their work”
The London Diamond Bourse continues to offer its members a wide range of benefits, including access to industry-leading presentations, networking opportunities, and strategic collaborations with global brands. Recent partnerships, such as with De Beers, have brought attention to London as a key hub for the diamond and jewellery industries. These collaborations enable LDB members to build essential connections with both emerging professionals and industry veterans, helping to drive progress and innovation within the industry.
