1953288230 IRGSSGJEPC inaugurated the 12th edition of the India Rough Gemstones Sourcing Show (IRGSS) 2025, which is being held from 17th November to 9th December in Jaipur. The show was formally opened by Shri R.K. Chandan, Commissioner of Customs, Jaipur, in the presence of Shri Jitendra Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Customs, ACC Jaipur; Shri Yogendra Garg, Regional Chairman, GJEPC; and Shri D. P. Khandelwal, Convener, Coloured Gemstones Panel, GJEPC, along with members of the Regional Committee and the Coloured Gemstones Panel.

Speaking about the significance of IRGSS, Mr. Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, said: “India’s coloured gemstone industry relies on consistent, transparent, and ethical sourcing of rough material, and IRGSS plays a vital role in fulfilling that need. By bringing miners and Indian manufacturers together on one platform, the show strengthens supply chain reliability and supports the long-term growth of Jaipur’s gemstone ecosystem. GJEPC will continue to facilitate such engagements that help our industry expand its global footprint.”

business 768x511 1Kagem Mining Co. Ltd., Zambia, owned by Gemfields, is showcasing an extensive selection of rough emeralds for India’s gemstone manufacturers. The viewing sessions are being facilitated by Mr. Brijraj Rathore, Senior Manager, Kagem, and Mr. Gopal Kumar, Director, Gemfields India, who also conducted a guided tour of the exhibition.

As the gem and jewellery industry is 100% import-dependent for raw material—not just coloured gemstones but also diamonds and gold—platforms like IRGSS play a vital role in ensuring consistent access to high-quality rough. Such shows help Indian manufacturers secure reliable supplies, maintain production continuity, and reinforce India’s position as one of the leading supplier of cut and polished coloured gemstones to the world.

During his visit, Shri Chandan interacted with manufacturers and traders, heard their suggestions, and assured continued support to streamline procedures and further enhance ease of doing business.

GJEPC expressed its gratitude to the Commissioner and the Customs Commissionerate, Jaipur, for their ongoing support to the sector, including enabling the resumption of personal carriage of gems and jewellery and proactively addressing trade-related issues
