GJEPC’s Surat Regional Office opened its Jewellery Manufacturing Series with a designing workshop on 2nd February, drawing more than 100 designers from the city’s manufacturing cluster in Surat.
Jayanti Savaliya, Regional Chairman – Gujarat, GJEPC, underlined the role of design-led growth in helping Indian manufacturers move up the value chain. He also briefed participants on the Council’s services and industry support initiatives.
The highlight of the session was a hands-on masterclass by noted designer and Artisan Award-winner Sonali Seth. Walking designers through the process of building concepts from scratch, she encouraged participation in GJEPC’s prestigious jewellery design competition.
Concerns around design copying were addressed by Hardik Brahmbhatt of Copyhart, who explained the importance of intellectual property and copyright protection to safeguard fresh ideas.
