The International Institute of Gemology (IIG) is set to host its 32nd Convocation Ceremony on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, from 1:00 p.m. onwards, at Radisson Hotel Mumbai, Andheri MIDC. The event will celebrate the achievements of its graduating cohort as they prepare to enter a gems and jewellery industry being reshaped by technology, evolving consumer expectations and growing global opportunities.
At the heart of this year’s convocation is the theme, “Human Brilliance in the Age of AI: Empowering Minds. Enriching Futures.” It carries a simple but important idea: AI will change how people learn and how the industry designs, manufactures, retails and connects with customers, but people will decide how well that change is used. For IIG, preparing students for the future means building technological fluency alongside the craftsmanship, judgement and ethics on which the gems and jewellery sector is built.
Mr. Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), will grace the ceremony as Honorary Chief Guest. A respected industry voice, he has consistently championed India’s global competitiveness across technology, design and manufacturing. His presence has added to the excitement among IIG’s graduates, who look forward to hearing from him as they begin their professional journeys.
The ceremony will bring together 150 graduating professionals, their families, distinguished industry leaders, academicians, alumni, faculty members and the wider IIG community. Graduates from programmes in Gemology, Diamonds, Jewellery Design, CAD, Jewellery Manufacturing, Retail and other specialised disciplines will formally receive their certificates in recognition of their dedication, hard work and commitment to excellence.
Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Mr. Rahul Desai, Managing Director, International Institute of Gemology, said: “At IIG, our vision is to prepare students for the realities of the industry and the changes ahead. AI is already transforming learning, design, manufacturing, retail and customer engagement, and our mission is to ensure education evolves alongside it. This year’s theme emphasizes that technology must be supported by human judgement, creativity, craftsmanship and integrity. We are proud to celebrate our graduating professionals at the 32nd Convocation and honoured to welcome Mr. Kirit Bhansali to this important occasion.”
The program will include certificate conferment, academic honours, keynote addresses and conversations connecting graduates with leaders shaping the gems and jewellery sector.
The 32nd Convocation will mark another important chapter in IIG’s six-decade legacy of education and skill development, celebrating 150 graduates as they take the next step in their careers. IIG remains committed to developing skilled talent through practical, industry-focused education, technological integration and strong partnerships. The institute equips students with the knowledge, confidence and global perspective needed to build successful careers in an increasingly technology-driven marketplace.
