The Jewelry Symposium (TJS) 2026, formerly known as the Santa Fe Symposium, recorded an 18% increase in attendance over the previous year, drawing 131 delegates to Detroit, Michigan, USA, from 16-19 May 2026. The annual event brought together jewellery manufacturers, students and industry specialists to discuss the latest advances in jewellery manufacturing technology.
Ahead of the symposium, Jewelers of America and the MJSA Education Foundation co-hosted a roundtable with around 100 industry professionals to address workforce shortages and the loss of skilled labour in jewellery manufacturing.
The three-day technical programme featured 20 speakers from seven countries—Germany, India, Italy, Spain, Thailand, the UK and the US. Sessions covered additive manufacturing, casting and polishing techniques, AI applications in jewellery design, FTC compliance, responsible sourcing and other emerging industry topics.
“TJS this year received the best response from the industry yet,” said Linus Drogs, Chairman of the TJS Board, citing stronger sponsor support, higher repeat attendance and increased participation from first-time delegates.
The symposium also hosted networking sessions focused on mentoring students and young professionals while encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing across the industry.
TJS has now opened abstract submissions for its 2027 symposium, with the deadline set for 1 August 2026.
