GIA India, an independent subsidiary of Gemological Institute of America, Inc. (GIA), unveiled the new GIA School of Gemology and Jewelry ArtsTM at a grand event at the IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026 at the Bombay Exhibition Center, Mumbai.
Designed to reflect GIA’s continued focus on excellence in gemological education, the GIA School of Gemology and Jewelry ArtsTM offers students a legacy of academic rigor, practical learning and industry relevance.
Opened in 2004, GIA’s Mumbai campus delivers programs in gemology, diamond grading, colored stones, jewelry design, CAD/CAM for jewelry, and jewelry business education. The diverse curriculum equips aspiring gemologists, jewelry professionals and entrepreneurs with the knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed in an evolving global gem and jewelry industry.
The new GIA School of Gemology and Jewelry ArtsTM was unveiled at IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026 in Mumbai, one of the world’s largest gem and jewelry trade exhibitions, making it the ideal platform to introduce GIA’s latest education initiative to the industry. Bringing together thousands of manufacturers, retailers, exporters, designers, educators, and other stakeholders from across the global gem and jewelry community, the event provided the perfect setting to showcase GIA’s continued commitment to advancing education. The unveiling took place in the presence of industry leaders, representatives from the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), GIA’s global leadership team, alumni, students, and esteemed members of India’s gem and jewelry community.
“GIA’s mission has always been to build consumer confidence in gems and jewelry, be it in India, New York or London. Our seven campuses across the world are in service of that one vision. We are delighted to unveil the GIA School of Gemology and Jewelry Arts in Mumbai, reiterating our long-term commitment to invest in India as a strategic and important market, domestically as well as from a global perspective,” said Cathryn Ramirez, GIA Senior Vice President and Chief Learning Officer.

Among the other prominent representatives of GIA at the event were Pritesh Patel, GIA President and CEO and Sriram Natarajan, GIA Senior Vice President, Laboratory Operations.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Arjun Pansari, Director – Education, GIA India, followed by a commemorative group photograph featuring the GIA leadership team, GIA Alumni Collective chapter leaders, alumni and students.
