London Diamond Bourse Expands Gemstone Education

The one-day programme builds on the LDB’s existing Practical Diamond Knowledge Course and Diamond Manufacturing Course. Designed for jewellery retailers, sales professionals and others in the trade, it focuses on practical knowledge that can help businesses confidently present coloured gemstones, answer customer queries and improve the retail experience.

The initiative reflects a broader shift in the jewellery market, where coloured gemstones are playing an increasingly important role alongside diamonds. As consumers seek individuality, coloured gemstones have become a key category for jewellers looking to diversify their offerings, differentiate collections and improve margins. This has increased the need for frontline staff to understand gemstone characteristics, quality factors and value propositions.

Charlotte Rose, President of the London Diamond Bourse, said education remains central to the organisation’s mission. “Coloured gemstones are as much an integral part of the London Diamond Bourse as diamonds. Education is at the heart of everything we do, so we’re delighted to expand our education programme with the introduction of our new Coloured Gemstone Course – a one-day course that gives professionals an introduction to the fascinating world of gemstones and the practical knowledge and confidence to sell them with expertise.”

To mark the launch, the LDB is offering four complimentary places, each valued at £300, for the inaugural course on 3 August 2026. Participants can enter through an Instagram competition by following the London Diamond Bourse, engaging with the competition post and commenting with their favourite gemstone. Winners will be announced on 28 July.

The inaugural course will be held at the London Diamond Bourse in Hatton Garden, London’s historic jewellery district.
