The 2nd India–EFTA Prosperity Summit 2026, an outreach event focused on export opportunities under the India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), was held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on 7th October.
Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Commerce Secretary; Shri Lav Agarwal, Director General, Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), H.E. Mr. Mridul Kumar, India’s Ambassador to Switzerland; and Mr. Markus Schlagenhof, ADG of Trade Secretariat, EFTA, attended the summit, along with officials from the Department of Commerce, Export Promotion Councils, trade associations and industry bodies.
Mr. Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, delivered a presentation on India’s gems and jewellery sector, highlighting the country’s exports to EFTA markets and the opportunities emerging from the TEPA. He outlined strategies to strengthen India’s presence in the EFTA markets, with a focus on expanding trade and creating greater opportunities for Indian gems and jewellery exporters.
The summit aimed at identifying avenues for increasing exports and deepening commercial engagement with the EFTA countries, namely, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
