The De Beers Group has discovered 10 areas with potential for diamond exploration in the towns of Lumboma and Mukonda, in the north-eastern Province of Lunda-Norte, as a result of the prospects it has been carrying out over the last two years.
The information was made official by the De Beers’ CEO, Al Cook, in statements to the press after an audience granted to him by the President of the Republic, Joao Louren. He said he had shared this information with the Head of State during the audience, and stated that, within two weeks, drilling activities will begin, which will determine the quality and quantity of diamonds existing in these locations.
Regarding investment, Al Cook announced that De Beers is investing tens of millions of dollars in Angola and it could go up to hundreds of millions. He said that his company has already made a substantial investment in the country, from which good results are expected.
