International Gemological Institute (IGI), in partnership with GET Diamonds and YourProof.id, announced the global launch of its Digital Diamond Certificate (DDC) — a blockchain-powered upgrade to the traditional paper grading report.
Starting today, IGI clients worldwide can request the digital certificate with any Natural Diamond Grading Certificate or Audit Report and can also digitise existing certificates. Following the launch, customers worldwide can now request the blockchain certificate during diamond submissions or through IGI’s sales team.
DDC uses Ethereum blockchain-compliant smart contracts to securely bind a digital record to each physical diamond, making grading reports immutable and tamper-proof. Each certificate stores a diamond’s quality, provenance, and ownership history — offering retailers and consumers lasting confidence in their purchases.
