GJEPC hosted a meeting with Shri Ajay Bhardwaj, CEO of AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services Company Limited (AAICLAS), to explore the establishment of an air cargo facility at Surat Airport. The session brought together leading industry representatives, customs house agents, and logistics partners from the gems and jewellery trade.
Shri Bhardwaj expressed full support for the initiative, assuring that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is committed to setting up the facility at the earliest and will take on custodianship responsibilities. He urged stakeholders — including GJEPC, logistics partners, and exporters — to share insights and best practices for building an efficient and world-class air cargo ecosystem.
He also guided Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) officials on the required formalities and invited GJEPC to present the proposal to the Ministry, promising to facilitate the meeting.
The productive discussions mark a significant step toward improving trade logistics and export efficiency for the gems and jewellery sector in Surat.
