1In a vibrant display of national pride and solidarity, the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) in Mumbai has kicked off an inspiring, year-long celebration commemorating the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, India’s revered national song. This monumental initiative follows the directive of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, who has encouraged organizations and citizens to honor the legacy of Vande Mataram with enthusiasm and unity.

Grand Gathering: Hundreds Rally for Vande Mataram’s Legacy.

Marking the start of the celebrations, over 100 diamond merchants and BDB staff united in an unforgettable demonstration, Men Standing 150 Years; serving as a living tribute to Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, the iconic author of the national song, and the spirit it has instilled in generations.

This striking formation not only celebrated the song’s pioneering role in India’s independence movement but also mirrored its enduring message: Devotion, unity, and national pride. Throughout the year, the BDB community is set to participate in numerous patriotic and cultural events, resonating with PM Modiji’s call for collective action and mass participation across the country.

3Musical Marvel: BDB’s In-House Brass Band Steals the Show: The celebration reached its crescendo when BDB’s very own Security & Fire Safety Brass Band took center stage, delivering a soul-stirring rendition of Vande Mataram that left the entire gathering mesmerized. This exceptional in-house musical ensemble, comprising dedicated security and fire safety personnel, transformed into maestros of melody, their synchronized performance adding an unforgettable dimension to the commemoration.

The brass band’s dream was envisioned and nurtured by BDB President Mr. Anoop Mehta, whose forward-thinking leadership recognized the power of music in bringing communities together. Under his guidance, what began as an innovative concept has blossomed into BDB’s pride—a testament to the diverse talents within the organization and the belief that every member can contribute to creating something extraordinary.

Leadership and Collective Spirit: Board Members at the Forefront: The celebrations were elevated by the active involvement and exemplary leadership of BDB’s esteemed Board members; Suresh Shah, Secretary, BDB, Prakashbhai, Joint Secretary, Anup Jhaveri, Hon’ble Treasurer, Kiran Gandhi, Jagdishbhai, Danishbhai, Surendra Dassani, Mahesh Vaghani, Pritiviraj Shah, Paresh Mehta, Sr. PI BKC Suresh Padavi.

Their presence signalled a resounding commitment to fostering unity and celebrating national heritage within the diamond industry. Senior colleagues and Board members personally engaged with participants, inspiring all with their endorsements of Vande Mataram’s cultural contributions.

Words of Commendation: Speeches That Inspired: Maheshbhai conveyed heartfelt wishes to all attendees, emphasizing that Vande Mataram remains a beacon of unity and sacrifice. He highlighted its pivotal role in shaping India’s identity and history, and thanked Sanjay Gupta, Mahesh Kaloni and Samir for their swift, flawless organization of the event, which ensured seamless participation and grandeur.

A special note of gratitude goes to the BDB Board of Directors and Senior members, whose leadership and dedication transformed the commemorative gathering into a vibrant celebration of Indian unity.

The Spirit Beyond Presence: Mehul Shah’s Message: Though Mehul Shah could not attend, his spirit was felt through his warm wishes and insightful reflections. In his message, he expressed, “Vande Mataram is not only a song, but a living call to unity and patriotism. Its words have inspired millions to dream and strive for our nation’s progress. Commemorating its 150th year at the BDB fills me with pride—may we continue to uphold its guiding values in every diamond we trade and every bond we forge.”

2National Recognition: The PM’s Endorsement and Broader Context: The BDB’s initiative is part of a grander national movement, as PM Narendra Modi ji officially inaugurated the year-long celebration on November 7, 2025. Across India, organizations and citizens are joining hands in mass singing sessions, cultural programs, and commemorative activities that underscore Vande Mataram’s legacy of unity.

The Government of India will also be issuing a ₹150 commemorative coin and postage stamp, symbolizing 150 years of national pride. Bharat Diamond Bourse stands proud, sparkling with patriotism, unity, and commitment —honouring 150 glorious years of Vande Mataram, and looking ahead to a future just as bright.
