Mia by Tanishq has entered Nagaland through a high-visibility partnership with the Hornbill Festival 2025, marking its first major step into the state and strengthening its wider North East India push. The brand, known for contemporary, youth-led jewellery, has joined as the festival’s Official Style Partner, positioning itself in a market it sees as naturally aligned with its focus on self-expression and modern design.
Ajay Maurya, head of category and marketing, said the association acts as the brand’s first foothold in Nagaland, noting that the state’s fashion-forward culture makes it a strong match for Mia’s identity. While Nagaland does not yet have a standalone Mia store, the brand is actively scouting locations, with its pieces currently available at the Tanishq outlet in Dimapur. Mia already operates around four stores in Guwahati and has a presence in parts of Meghalaya.
Mia has expanded rapidly to over 270 stores nationwide, up from 120 two years ago. Physical retail accounts for about 90% of its business, while the online channel continues to regain momentum.
In a tribute to Naga heritage, Mia has designed three silver pendants inspired by the hornbill, an inverted sickle and a feather, incorporating the colours of the state flag. These pieces will be available nationwide through the brand’s website.
The Hornbill Festival, held from 1 to 10 December at Kisama Heritage Village, remains one of Nagaland’s most significant cultural showcases, drawing visitors from across India and overseas.
