Natural Diamond Council Releases ‘Record-Breaking Diamonds’ Report

Dec 18, 2025

1844818804 NDC 4The Natural Diamond Council (NDC) has launched Record-Breaking Diamonds, a detailed report that traces the life stories of some of the world’s most extraordinary diamonds, from their rough discovery deep within the Earth to their final polished form. The report brings together geology, history, mining advances and craftsmanship to explain why these rare stones stand apart.

Among the highlights are iconic diamonds that have shaped public imagination and market benchmarks. These include the Hope Diamond, now housed at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC and viewed by more than 100 million visitors, and the CTF Pink Star, which fetched $71.2 million at auction, setting a record as the most expensive diamond ever sold under the hammer.

Positioned as a long-term reference, the report also examines how modern recovery technologies and cutting techniques have enabled the preservation of exceptionally large diamonds, offering fresh insight for industry professionals and enthusiasts alike into the enduring appeal and rarity of these landmark gems.
