The Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) is hosting a high-level Angolan delegation on 26-27 January, led by Diamantino Azevedo, Angola’s Minister of Mineral Resources, to strengthen trade ties between Angola’s rough diamond sector and Antwerp’s diamond market.
The delegation includes Endiama Chairman Dr José Ganga Junior and SODIAM Chairman Eugénio Bravo da Rosa. The visit features targeted meetings with Antwerp traders, cutters, tender companies and luxury jewellery brands to expand the flow of Angolan rough diamonds through Antwerp.
Angola produced over US$1.4 billion in rough diamonds in 2024, ranking second globally by value, with 21% of its production exported to Antwerp. Both sides see the engagement as mutually beneficial, linking Angolan supply with Antwerp’s established trading, compliance and access to global jewellery houses.
“This visit is much more than a diplomatic moment. We are bringing concrete supply and demand together,” said Karen Rentmeesters, CEO of AWDC. “We are organising targeted one-on-one sessions between Endiama and SODIAM on the one hand, and relevant players within the Antwerp diamond sector on the other – ranging from rough traders and cutters to tender companies – and linking them with major luxury jewellery brands.”
