Bharat Diamond Bourse celebrates World Diamond Day

WDD 3A fitting tribute to the “World Diamond Day” launched by Natural Diamond Council was celebrated in Bharat Diamond Bourse on 8th of April with much fanfare. History of diamonds, from evolution to the present day was depicted through huge panels bearing pictures and descriptions of the respective eras.

Images and educational text showed the important partner countries involved in the evolution of diamond mining, manufacturing & marketing as well as the entire supply chain. Right from the first diamond mined in Golconda, India, to the expansion of trade from Amsterdam to Antwerp and South Africa was well explained through panels. Importance of economies in the modern diamond mining such as Botswana, Angola, Namibia, Russia & Canada was told in a story format to make it simple to understand.

hgjWhen quizzed about the celebration, Mr. Mehul Shah, Vice President of Bharat Diamond Bourse opined, “Bharat Diamond Bourse is the world’s largest functional diamond exchange and India has a history of diamond mining, consumption and dominance in cutting and polishing of rough diamonds. Bharat Diamond Bourse houses over 5,400 members involved in daily diamond business.

With an in-house customs department and a 100% secured ecosystem BDB offers an unprecedented ecosystem for over 45,000 people involved in the day-to-day diamond trade. The Bharat Diamond Bourse supports the Natural Diamond Council in launching this unique initiative, ‘World Diamond Day,’ through its picturesque depiction of diamonds and their evolution. This dedication to natural diamonds has indeed encouraged all trade members not only in India but all over the world.”

At a time when consumers, especially younger audiences, are looking for more meaningful ways to celebrate, this initiative offers a reason to pause and honour those moments. Natural diamonds are the perfect custodians of our memories. This day is also a reminder of why we do what we do, to bring joy, emotion, and meaning into people’s lives.

The picturesque depiction and display will run through the week post which the story boards will find a permanent place within Bharat Diamond Bourse. Natural Diamond Council India Head, Ms Richa Singh along with Mr. Mehul Shah and BDB committee members, Mr Jay Parikh and Mr Harsh Shah hosted a media gathering and a run down to commemorate the World Diamond Day celebrations in Bharat Diamond Bourse.
