1863042383 CommissionerGJEPC’s leadership recently met Shri Brij Bhushan Gupta, who assumed charge as Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Zone–III. The Council delegation, which included Shri Kirit Bhansali, Chairman; Shri Shaunak Parikh, Vice Chairman; and Shri Mithilesh Pandey, Senior Director, extended a formal welcome to Shri Gupta and briefed him about pressing industry concerns.

During the meeting, Shri Bhansali pointed out operational challenges impacting trade efficiency and urged continued support from Customs to ensure smoother processes. Key issues included the utilisation of Special Notified Zone (SNZ) infrastructure at Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) during non-SNZ periods, and procedural delays in the clearance of re-import shipments sent abroad for certification, particularly those arising from measurement variance.

GJEPC also submitted a detailed representation covering broader sectoral concerns for the Chief Commissioner’s consideration. The interaction focused on aligning regulatory processes with industry requirements to sustain trade momentum and reduce friction in cross-border transactions.
