The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), in collaboration with The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) (GIT), has announced the successful conclusion of the 74th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, held from 8–12 September 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC). The five-day event welcomed more than 50,000 buyers and visitors from 123 countries and generated over THB 5.8 billion or 174 million USD in trade value, reflecting strong international confidence in the potential of Thailand’s gems and jewelry industry and reaffirming Bangkok Gems as a key international trading platform for the global industry.
Ms. Sunanta Kangvalkulkij, Director-General of DITP, the fair’s main organizer, said: “The 74th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair achieved results beyond expectations. Over the five-day event, more than 50,000 buyers and visitors attended, an increase of more than 12% from the previous edition, with international visitors accounting for over 74% of total attendance. The top five visiting nations were 1. India, 2. Myanmar, 3. China ,4. Japan and 5. Sri Lanka. The fair also attracted a growing number of buyers from emerging markets, while total trade value exceeded 174 million USD, representing a 31% increase from the previous edition. The event featured 1,300 leading Thai and international exhibitors from 20 countries across more than 2,800 booths, occupying Halls 1–8 on the G and LG levels, as well as the Plenary Hall at QSNCC.”
The five most sought-after product categories were gemstones, machinery and equipment, fine jewelry, silver jewelry and diamonds, respectively. Gemstones remained the standout category, accounting for 35% of total trade value generated at the fair. This strong performance highlights Thailand’s competitive strength as a global colored gemstone trading hub and Bangkok Gems’ role in connecting producers and traders with buyers from around the world.
“This success was made possible through the collaboration of 17 partner organizations and industry associations from both the public and private sectors. Together, they have helped strengthen Bangkok Gems as one of the world’s top four international gems and jewelry trade fairs, creating new business opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs and reinforcing Thailand’s position as a leading international hub for gems and jewelry trade,” the DITP Director-General added.
Mr. Sumed Prasongpongchai, Director-General of GIT, the fair’s co-organizer, said: “Bangkok Gems continues to grow in terms of visitor numbers, trade value and product diversity, particularly in the colored gemstone segment, which brings together gemstones from around the world — including rare stones, gems from emerging sources and high-quality cut gemstones. With Thailand’s internationally recognized expertise in gemstone cutting and enhancement, the country has become an important destination where businesses can bring in raw materials, add value through specialized expertise and develop them further for international markets.”
Beyond its comprehensive range of products and services covering the gems and jewelry value chain, the fair featured a series of activities highlighting the capabilities and creativity of Thailand’s industry. These included The Craft of Brilliance, an exhibition showcasing the refined craftsmanship and jewelry-making expertise of Thai entrepreneurs; The Ones to Watch, presenting designs by emerging Thai jewelry designers; and the Networking Reception, which created opportunities for business networking between exhibitors and international buyers. The fair also featured GIT’s professional gem testing services, as well as seminars designed to provide industry professionals with new knowledge, insights and perspectives.
The 75th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair, organized by DITP as the main organizer and GIT as co-organizer, will take place from 23–27 February 2027 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC).
